Key information

Working for Delfont Mackintosh Theatres since 2015, and ahead of the launch of West End’s Hamilton, Montagu Evans led the town planning process from initial pre-application discussions with Westminster City Council through to securing planning permissions and listed building consents for part demolition and extension of the Grade II* listed building.

Post-submission, the team discharged the conditions attached to both the planning permission and listed building and made a number of further planning and listed building consent applications. Its extensive heritage advice further supported the listed building work.

Notable improvements included the widening of the stage proscenium arch, excavation of a new stage pit, new seating, a seven-storey extension to the rear over the basement, a new roof enclosure over the main roof and a significant reduction in the extent of the east wing. The front and back of house facilities were remodelled with better accessibility, and the original Frank Matcham marble floor within the grand entrance lobby was reinstated.
