Key information

Montagu Evans provided comprehensive redevelopment advice for this site in the London Borough of Wandsworth.

South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust had a vision to revolutionise its estate and Montagu Evans’ planners and development viability advisors were asked to join the Trust on that journey.

Built as an asylum in 1840, its Main Building still commands awe and sits in an oasis of tranquility on a 33 hectare site in the middle of urban Wandsworth, set within the Metropolitan Green Belt. Planning permission was granted for a 25,000 sqm, GIA new mental healthcare facility, over 800 new homes, restoration of two major listed buildings and creation of a public park.

Montagu Evans continue to advise the Trust on the site including recent Reserved Matters to enable commencement of works to the new mental healthcare facility and temporary planning permissions to allow other enabling works to commence.
