WELCOME TO THE ONLINE CONSULTATION WEBSITE FOR FORMER RAINBOW SLIDES, GOOSECROFT ROAD / FORTH PLACE, STIRLING

This website seeks to engage with and inform the local community regarding the proposed new purpose built student accommodation development at Land at the Former Rainbow Slides Car Park, Goosecroft Road / Forth Place, Stirling by Crosslane Students Developments UK Ltd. The proposals reflect the current need and demand for student accommodation in Stirling and present an opportunity to deliver a holistic approach to the redevelopment of the site.

A Proposal of Application Notice was submitted to Stirling Council in December 2021. We are now looking forward to engaging with the local community and other key stakeholders to explain and obtain feedback on our plans prior to submission of a planning application in 2022. The detailed design proposals for the site are under development and feedback at this stage will assist in developing the proposals further.

This website provides the local community with a unique opportunity to shape the proposals for this new development in Stirling and to provide comments that will inform the design and subsequent planning application.

We are now looking forward to engaging with the local community and other key stakeholders at our second consultation event from 4 – 7 pm on Thursday 10 February. In line with Scottish Government guidance the consultation event will take place on Microsoft Teams, and can be accessed from 4 pm on 10 February by clicking HERE

Further information on the proposals is available in our downloadable presentation:

DIGITAL CONSULTATION

Crosslane Students Developments UK Ltd are committed to positive and pro-active local community engagement.

Due to ongoing developments surrounding the COVID-19 virus and social-distancing measures, the Scottish Government has issued guidance encouraging developers to use online or digital methods of engagement whilst public gatherings are prohibited.

In accordance with these pre-application consultation requirements we are undertaking two separate consultation events. During these events members of the project team will be available to answer any questions and receive feedback regarding the development proposals.

The first of these events took place between 4pm – 7pm on Wednesday 19 January.

The second session is planned to take place on Thursday 10 February 2022 between 4pm and 7pm.  This second session will explain to local residents and stakeholders how we have addressed any comments received, and to allow the team to present the latest proposals before the planning application is submitted. The local community will be made aware of this event through this website and an advertisement in the Stirling Observer. Details of how to join the event are available above.

For those that do not have online access hard copies of exhibition materials can be made available by contacting Montagu Evans on the details below.

THE PROPOSALS

The Rainbow Slides leisure centre and its car park previously occupied the site, however as part of a rationalisation of the Council’s leisure facilities the Rainbow Slides leisure centre has been closed since the development of new facilities at Forthbank Sports Village. Following the Council’s exit from the building and subsequent demolition, the site now includes a hotel and temporary car park.

The site is located on Goosecroft Road, at the junction with Forth Place, adjacent to Stirling Town Centre and has good accessibility for local transport connections. The site lies a few hundred metres north of Stirling Railway Station and the new major mixed use Forthside development. A dual carriageway section of the A9, one of the main routes into the city, runs along the eastern boundary of the site. The site lies within the frame of an important view of the castle form the approach towards the city centre from Forthside / Shore Road route into the city centre. The site lies adjacent to Stirling Town Conservation Area.

The proposal relates to the development of purpose built student accommodation with ancillary facilities, associated amenity areas, landscaping, access, parking and infrastructure. The proposals reflect the current need and demand for student accommodation in Stirling and present an opportunity to redevelop this key city centre site.
