Case Study

We are advising NDR, whose freehold operational property was compulsorily acquired for the Crossrail Scheme.  We successfully secured an undertaking during the Crossrail Bill’s passage through parliament to give our client control over the timing of possession.

We secured the purchase of a suitable relocation property, and liaised with our client regarding the smooth relocation of their operations.

We continue to act in respect of formulating and negotiating the claim for the acquired freehold interest, the relocation costs and the technical and property fit-out at the relocation property.  We work closely with our clients other consultants including project managers and technicians.  


Our knowledge and experience of the promotion of Bills through Parliament enabled us, working together with NDR’s lawyers, to put forward a sound objection to the Bill resulting in securing an undertaking regarding the timing of NDR’s freehold. This enabled a smooth relocation of the operations with a much longer lead in time than would normally be the case in compulsory purchase cases.

We were able to assist NDR in finding a suitable relocation property through our office agency team.

We are working closely with NDR’s consultants to present the claim and negotiate proper compensation.


We have liaised closely with NDR in respect of their freehold, relocation and fit out claims.  We:

  • worked with our agency team to search and secure a suitable freehold central London property that met our client’s operational needs

  • have provided a detail schedule of sums claimed and compensation paid, with both a full schedule and summary snap shot being available to our throughout
  • have presented the claim to Crossrail (TFL) including supporting information and explanation on all aspects of the claim, including the freehold value, relocation costs, technical and property fit out costs.


A smooth relocation of the operational TV and Radio studios with the benefit of the undertaking on timing. A suitable freehold identified as NDR’s relocation property.  A substantial claim resulting from close liaison with NDR’s consultancy team and ongoing negotiations with Crossrail.
