Sydenham's Timber Yard - Planning Consent Granted in Poole
The regeneration of Poole town centre received a major boost this week when Atlas
Partners’ plans for the £150 million redevelopment of the Sydenhams Timber Yard site in Hamworthy were given the green light by Poole Council.
More than 350 new homes are planned to be built around a new marina and the
development is set to become the only site in Poole’s regeneration area that is delivering affordable homes. The public will have access 24/7 and will be able to walk and cycle through the entire development, enjoying the large public open space that reaches down to the water’s edge, and frequenting the planned shops and cafes. There will also be a link along the quayside through to the adjacent Carter’s Quay scheme.
Throughout the site at ground level there will be new shops, restaurants and cafes as well as workshops for start-up businesses.
Montagu Evans acted for Atlas Partners on the planning application. Paul Burley, Partner at Montagu Evans, said:
“This scheme will provide over 350 homes around a new marina, a key part of the pedestrian and cycle route around the Backwater Channel, and new commercial space for small and independent businesses. The development will play an important role in the regeneration of Poole and Hamworthy’s waterfront, and we hope that this high-quality scheme will also act as a catalyst and benchmark for further significant investment in the area."
