You do the hokey cokey, that's what its all about... well that and planning of course!

The past few weeks have been very busy, which is fast becoming the norm within the planning department.

My workload has been diverse, ranging from the submission of applications to discharge conditions pursuant to previously granted permissions, to a sequential retail assessment in Rotherham and to the drafting of application material for a number of planning applications, including for a drive thru Starbucks at an existing Retail Park and for a 6,000 square metre warehouse development within Feltham.

Whilst the day to day work life within the planning department has been exceptionally busy, there has been much opportunity to socialise with colleagues after work and to attend networking events over the past month. Most recently, Montagu Evans was invited to attend an annual charity treasure hunt event hosted by Forsters LLP. Monties planning department submitted two teams and last night we ventured out into Mayfair, and the glorious summer weather, with a pack comprising cryptic clues to solve, a list of objects to find and a set of tasks to complete. The evening involved our team doing the hokey cokey with a group of picnickers in Mount Street Gardens, taking a photo with a barista in Pret a Manger (see photos), forming a human pyramid in Grosvenor Square Gardens, frequenting a Rolls Royce parked on Berkley Square for another photo, collecting a bay leaf, a hotel restaurant menu, a cork from a bottle of French wine and a copy of the Big Issue. The treasure hunt was followed by a BBQ and networking drinks which provided a good opportunity to talk to individuals from Forsters and other related companies. To top off a thoroughly enjoyable evening, it was announced that our team, No Sheep Sherlock, had finished in fifth position out of over twenty participating teams.
