Prior to the submission of a planning application, this month I took part in a public consultation for a large strategic residential scheme. The event, which took place at a leisure centre, allowed for members of the public to ask questions on the proposed scheme and provide their feedback. From my experience of working in the public sector, it was an interesting experience in learning how local people can react to developments. It was also a useful learning experience of discussing the scheme and its planning benefits with members of the public and hearing their feedback- thankfully the majority was positive! Whilst I often engaged with members of the public working in the public sector, this was a really insightful and dare I say enjoyable experience and definitely encouraged me to be more confident with public speaking and communication. This application is now well on its way to submission and the office is definitely busy as usual!
In terms of topical issues, the month has concluded with the historic Brexit event and only time will tell how the property sector will react to this.
In other news, the JLL property triathlon is taking place this Friday at Dorney Lake. It amazing how many property people seem to be triathletes- I am now starting to regret the lack of training! A few of us from the planning team went for a lunchtime swim in the Serpentine last Friday as a last minute training attempt- safe to say Dorney Lake will be like swimming in Evian in comparison to the Serpentine!
