On Monday I attended an interesting site visit with Partner Chris Miele in St John’s Wood. This was for a new instruction involving a private residential development. We looked at the existing property to see how the listed building had been preserved. The client intends to redevelop the property to enlarge it and restore more of the original features.
I have been assisting Partner Peter Bovill on the redevelopment of a hostel to residential flats in Westminster. I will be attending weekly project meetings where the various project consultants, architects and client develop the proposals to be submitted. This week we went through the proposed drawings prepared by the architects and discussed how these could be improved to satisfy the client’s brief and retain the original fabric of the listed building.
I am assisting in an exciting change of use application in Hackney working with Partner Will Edmonds. The proposals hope to change the existing site into a creative hub where photographers and designers work during the day then the space can be used as an entertainment venue at the weekends. I will be researching a new policy area and preparing a new type of application.
I am now a member of the RTPI and a step closer to becoming a qualified town planner! I will begin working towards my APC and start filling out a weekly log book.
