Following my last blog I've now moved from Residential Development to Secured Lending - what's that you ask? In short, the team value assets for loan security purposes.
Over the last 3 months in my new role, I've already been involved in a number of different projects - including assisting with the valuation of a large residential development located near London Bridge. The secured lending team were instructed to value a mixed-use portfolio across parts of London and I was given the responsibility of reporting on one of these properties. Not only did this property comprise a standing investment, but there was also development potential to the rear of the site.
Recently I assisted with the valuation of an office building in the City, and this involved valuing the asset for capital gain purposes; having to provide a value of the office building as of 1982 which was rather interesting. As there was no comparable evidence online I had to sort through the company archives to find relevant evidence.
I've also been involved in organising a number of CPD lectures which have been really useful for my APC. The morning lectures included graduates from NHS property Services and offered a great opportunity to meet and network with one of our biggest client.
We also celebrated our annual Summer Party last week which was held at a roof top venue around Oxford Circus - although it was fun mixing with colleagues across our Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and Manchester offices it definitely resulted in a few sore heads the following morning!!
