This week I undertook some research on a potential site for a tall building in the Vauxhall and Nine Elms Opportunity Area. I have a particular interest in this type of development as I chose to focus my dissertation on tall building development in London.
On Thursday evening I attended my first planning committee in Bromley. This was for a project I have been assisting on since I began working at Montagu Evans last September. It was really interesting to see first hand how councillors deliberated over the application and reached a decision. Each Council has a difference format in which a committee meeting takes places therefore I could see how Bromley operates.
I finished off the week with some speculative research for Partner Peter Bovill, this was for two sites in Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea. One involved a change of use from medical purposes to residential and the other was from a restaurant and bar to residential. It was fascinating to look into the planning history of both sites as well as the policy context behind future redevelopment options.
