After a relaxing Christmas break with family, friends and copious amounts of festive food, it has been great to get stuck into new projects and challenges at work. It’s been almost five months since I joined the planning team (doesn’t time fly) and I now feel like I am positively contributing towards new projects. There is no doubt that working directly with partners has improved my understanding and knowledge of the planning system, whilst learning from their wealth of professional experience.
Having said that, since my last blog, I have reached a professional milestone; my very first planning application was recommended for approval! It was a personal achievement and I am sure that it will be the first of many applications to be granted planning permission. The variety of planning applications that I have been involved with makes this job both challenging and immensely rewarding. I have already realised the considerable amount that I have learnt and acknowledge the steep learning curve ahead as I progress in the APC process.
