I am now four months in to my time at Montagu Evans and enjoying it just as much as the first four weeks. There is still so much to learn and get to grips with but that’s what makes the role interesting and keeps you progressing.
The responsibility I am being given and the exposure I have had has been great. Just recently, I was chauffeur driven, with a more senior member of the team, around 8 properties that we had to inspect… who said surveying wasn’t glamorous! Following this I had to undertake a pricing strategy on the entire 52 property portfolio which was a fantastic opportunity to be involved in. Not to mention there is always a more senior figure guiding you and whilst you are given great responsibility it is comforting to know that there is always someone available to give you a helping hand.
On a social level the events are still coming in thick and fast which is to be expected when nearing the Christmas period. These events are a great time to meet and speak to people in the company that you may not usually speak to in your day to day role. For example, my team was tasked with hosting the Montagu Evans quiz night. From greeting people at the door and selling raffle tickets to reading out questions for the quiz it was a great way to introduce myself and get to meet everyone from all parts of the firm. The overall night was a huge success with canapés, drinks, humour, and a substantial amount of money raised for charity.
As the Christmas period approaches and work starts to wind down I have had time to reflect on my time at Montagu Evans. Despite the first four months flying by I have always felt extremely welcomed and right at home, and nothing exemplifies this more than the little Christmas card I received on my desk.
Let’s see what 2017 brings! Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
