It is roughly one month since I started at Montagu Evans and I already feel part of the team. After the first week’s introductions, and plenty of drinks, I have been thrown straight in the deep end. I have been given my own projects, something I did not expect this early into my role.
My first rotation is within the Corporate Real Estate Team. We deal with a range of work such as rent reviews, valuations, property acquisitions and disposals. Predominantly, I have been dealing with valuations for NHS Property Services.
My first solo project was a valuation for the NHS, of a piece of land in Rugby. We were instructed to give an alternative use valuation as well as an existing use valuation. The alternative use considerations were a small residential development and a health centre, something that I have had no prior experience at dealing with and that I did not come across during my time at university.
The alternative use valuations required me to carry out two development appraisal and test out my knowledge of Argus Developer, prior to our graduate training in our second week. Overall the experience was a huge learning curve and something that was of great benefit to me so early into my career at Montagu Evans.
I am looking forward to the coming months, and the challenges this seat will throw at me, and am already looking at my decision to join Montagu Evans as a good one.
