There have been a few changes to Monty’s Planning Department recently, both personal to myself and as a wider department. Let’s start with the department changes…
Last week the Planning Partners treated us all to two days out of the office for the annual Planning Department away weekend; this year being in Budapest! As is always the case, the weekend proved to be a lot of fun and involved much team bonding in the beautiful surrounds of the incredible city. We were even spoilt with some late summer sun! The weekend also included the proper welcoming of this year’s graduates and other recent additions to the team in true Monty’s style with impromptu speeches and drinking penalties…welcome to the team, all! It’s safe to say that everyone is already excited for next year’s away weekend and speculation of the destination has begun, with Valencia seemingly being a frontrunner.
This transitions nicely into the changes which are personal to myself. Namely the realisation that I have now been with the firm for just over a year…how times flies! Amongst other things, the crossing of the first year milestone has brought with it a change in job title from Graduate Planner to Assistant Planner, and the instant shift in the feeling of importance and significance within Monty’s which comes with it. I have recently been handed the opportunity to lead the day-to-day working of an interesting project in Camden, which I have enjoyed thoroughly and which has aided me in my understanding of the wider development process. This is soon to be followed up by contributing to the preparation of an application for a large regeneration project outside of London.
One year into my career at Monty’s sees me very happy with how things have gone. It also means that it is only one year until I submit my APC…better get cracking!.
