After the Christmas break the department settled back into routine this week. A number of applications were submitted and there are plenty new instructions for the year so there will be a variety of work for the graduates to get involved in.
I assisted in an application in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. This site currently exists as two retail units with a large amount of unused storage space. Our proposals utilise the existing space by providing two retail units and 4 residential units.
We received good news as the office to residential scheme I assisted with towards the end of last year was decided this week. The prior approval application we submitted to Wandsworth Council was successful so the existing office building will be converted into 49 residential units.
I finished the week researching tall building proposals in Brighton as well as the Council’s policy context for this type of development. This was a good exercise given my interest in tall building applications and in an area I have not covered before.
